Recording Rock-Art Fieldwork in Valcamonica – ENG

The Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici (CCSP) proposes an annual recording rock-art fieldwork in Valcamonica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. This year, the work will be done in the area of Foppe di Nadro – Nature Reserve of rock engravings of Ceto, Cimbergo and Paspardo (Valcamonica – Italy) and will be aimed at completing and rechecking the surveys in view of the next publication.

The fieldwork will be structured over 2 weeks; participants will be able to experience the stages of completing, checking, and cataloguing the surveys in view of the next publication. The activities will be as follows:

  • Surface preparation;
  • Sheet placement and survey techniques on nylon sheet;
  • Photographic surveys according to archaeological standards;
  • Use of total station, rock georeferencing and data processing in GIS;
  • Digitization of survey sheets, processing and recomposition in laboratory;
  • Cataloging, analysis and comparisons with archaeological sources;
